Do you remember when you were young and you got your crayons out and the world was suddenly without limits? The sky could be any color or combinations of colors that you wanted. My crayons were in an old tin cookie box that my mom got somewhere. When I look back, that was a magical time in my life.
When I got older and had children of my own, we would have coloring time. Being the artist that I am, occasionally we would color on the outside of the lines. That made it possible to create a world that we could imagine. To many of you, this will bring back at least a smile if not a warm fuzzy feeling of times when your imagination was the only thing that limited you.
Coloring Outside the Lines in Las Vegas
Let us fast forward. Crayons are still around but the way that we can create has changed. That is where I am at now. I still get to color. I still get to create. I have many different avenues of creating that are amazing in so many ways. My life is the one that the famous saying talks about: "If you do what you love, you do not work, everyday is awesome."
As a local artist in the 89052 area, I’ve brought that "no limits" mindset to my work at Xquisit Design and Gallery. Whether I am working on a custom Painting or a heavy Metal Sculpture, I am always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what art can be in a Las Vegas home.
A Working Studio, Not Just a Gallery
Most people think an Art Gallery has to be a cold, quiet place where you can’t touch anything. We hate that. Xquisit Design and Gallery is a living, breathing working studio. When you walk in, you might see the dust flying from a wood carving or smell the fresh paint from a new canvas.
Whether you are driving in from North Las Vegas or taking a break from the Las Vegas Arts District, we show you the "Open Book" process of how raw metal and wood turn into high-end decor. You can often see me, Alan Gonzales, right in the middle of a project. Seeing the art being built in the Nevada light helps you understand why we use materials that won't warp or fade in our desert heat.
Solving Your Creative Problems
I get to solve those great problems in life. Such as what color painting works on that wall in your Summerlin estate, or can I design a sculpture that will fit the specific wants of a family in Henderson. The best part is that there is no "outside of the box."
I have found that if I get the opportunity to have a discussion with you, I will usually be able to give you ideas that you may have thought about—or a lot of times I hear, "I didn't even know that might be something we can do." I love helping neighbors in Green Valley and Boulder City realize that their "impossible" idea is actually something we can build right here.
My Process: Metal, Wood, and Paint
I specialize in several different types of art to make sure I can bring any vision to life:
PAINTING
Using Acrylic, Oil, and Airbrush to create vibrant colors that handle the Nevada light.
SCULPTURES
Building custom pieces from Metal, Wood, and Acrylics.
ENGRAVING
Engraving: Using both an Engraving machine and custom hand-on techniques for deep detail on glass, tile, or metal.
LED LIGHTING
Integrating light into my art so the piece changes mood along with your room.
